Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site

Mel Morris Conservation was commissioned by Derbyshire County Council and English Heritage to carry out an audit, photographic and condition survey of buildings and structures within the more remote and rural parts of the Derwent Valley WHS and to consider the historic transport and communication corridors thematically, tracing the course of and investigating the evidence along the river, railways, canal and road. This included recommendations for new and extended conservation areas, highlighted the potential of key unprotected buildings and structures and formed the baseline data for a Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme for the World Heritage Site.
